Andrew Clappison

Andrew has worked as Communications Manager at CommsConsult for the last 4 years, having previously worked at the Centre for Rural Policy Research, University of Exeter. His research there focused on rural governance, community participation and engagement, which reflected an interest in these areas developed during his PhD.

Trained in Advanced Monitoring and Evaluation, Andrew has worked on a number of evaluation projects relating to knowledge sharing, strategic communications, policy influence, networks and media outreach. Since joining the company he has conducted research, written widely and conducted a number M&E projects for clients such as the Department for International Development (DFID), the Global Development Network (GDN), the Economic Research Forum (ERF), the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) and the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie).

He is also the project lead for www.researchtoaction.org, an initiative that seeks to raise the capacity of researchers globally in the area of research communication and engagement. This reflects his passion for researching, learning and developing ideas on how we can make researchers and their organisations communicate their research better and with real impact.
